Is Splatoon Actually an MOBA?

Hey Gamers!

So as we all know Splatoon is out and I have been playing it like crazy, maybe you've seen me online. My username is "Burly"... surprised? Well needless to say I have been playing it a lot during my free time which is rare these days between trying to set up having two jobs (yeah I'm becoming one of those people with TWO jobs... lol) During a lot of my Turf War matches I have noticed something quite interesting, in my honest opinion I think Splatoon in an MOBA shooter and hear me out. Has anyone realized that in games like LOL and Smite there is a lot of emphasis on lanes and different classes? Well, Splatoon plays a lot like that. The rollers are a lot like the heavy classes and are meant to be in front to pave a paint path for the machines guns to follow behind and the chargers are mostly used as sniper rifles and can hunt from afar. Yes, the game plays like a shooter but to win in Turf War using MOBA tactics is very effective, even though there isn't really much jungling and every character doesn't have four skills that level up but everyone does have an ultimate and a secondary. I know I don't really make a good argument because I haven't played a lot of MOBAs but for the little bit I played I personally think Splatoon feels more like an MOBA than a shooter like Call of Duty. Also, there is a new weapon class coming out that uses a paint brush, I'm not a hundred percent sure how it will play, but that could be like a melee class like the roller but is faster or something.

Do you have any thoughts on this topic? I'd love to hear your side or what you think of Splatoon. Please leave all comments in the section below! Also, if you want to add me as a friend and play Splatoon just add me and send me a message! Remember to keep on playing.

E3 Expo

Hey Gamers!

So as everyone knows the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3 for short, is coming up soon. Also, you might have seen on Facebook but I registered Burly Gaming for E3! I know it's a shot in the dark, but honestly the worst thing they can do is say no, but just imagine if they say yes. Either way if I am here or there I will be covering E3. I will also post a live feed to the blog like I did last year and also post all channels and youtube accounts that are streaming it just in case one or the other fails. E3 is going to be pretty awesome this year, I also wish I could compete in the Nintendo World Championship, but again that too is a shot in the dark. What do you gamers think will be announced at E3 this year? I feel like Nintendo is going to confirm some more Smash Bros. DLC and also maybe some more Mario Kart DLC. I also feel like there will be an Earthbound or Mother announcement, along with a new Metroid game and we will get more info on Fire Emblem If. Post your thoughts in the comments below and remember to keep on playing!

Banjo-Kazooie & Rare Ltd. Transform!

Hey Gamers!

This is the day many of us have been dreaming about! It's finally here! Well it's not exactly Banjo-Kazooie but it's literally the next best thing.

So what do you get when you combine a character designer from Banjo-Kazooie, a programmer from Donkey Kong Country and a slew of other former Rare employees? Well you get their new studio Playtonic games. You can check out there website by clicking here: Click Here! There isn't much on the website except for the image seen above with the caption "Who's hiding in here?" The new project they are working on is called Project Ukulele.

I know this is just a picture but I am really excited already. I mean the leaves look exactly like the ones from Donkey Kong Country just in HD.  If you were to ask me in this picture it almost looks like a hippo and some kind of bird, maybe a crane or flamingo. Either way this is getting me hyped. If you want to learn more about this project remember to follow Burly Gaming where we will be following the project and also like Playtonic Games on Facebook and Twitter!

Thanks for reading and remember to keep playing!

Nintendo Direct Post Scene

Hey Gamers!
Nintendo finished their Nintendo Direct and there were a lot of announcements. If you haven't seen the video I will post a link below but we will also be doing a synopsis of the event. They announced a lot for their first Nintendo Direct and if you didn't see a game you wanted or was hoping for, just remember it's January, there will be more Nintendo Directs.

First off they announced an untitled Fire Emblem game labeled as "The Latest in the Fire Emblem series."

Next they announced Puzzle & Dragons Z and Puzzles v& Dragons Super Mario Edition. I did a review on the announcement of Puzzle & Dragons Z a while ago but I am finally glad to see the game being released in the West. They are releasing the two together in one package which will be released sometime in May.

Next Nintendo announced a new free to play game called Pokemon Shuffle. It plays like Trozei except you have a limited number of moves you use to defeat the enemies. You can unlock gems and stuff through street pass or by purchasing them. This game is available in February.

They announced that Wii games will now become downloadable software. Starting today you can download Super Mario Galaxy 2 and for half price for the next week. Punch-Out will be available January 22 & Metroid Prime Trilogy on January 29 and for the week after these releases the games will be half price as well.

After that they announced amiibo compatibility with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse which releases February 20th. Kirby, King DeDeDe and Meta Knight will be compatible with it.

They also announced a new wave of amiibos which include Robin, Lucina, Ness, Wario, Charizard, and Pac-Man.  Make sure to get these while they are still available. They will show up in store in Spring. They also announced a Super Mario lineup of amiibos which include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser and Toad which are coming out alongside Mario Party 10 and there will be a bundle package that comes with Mario Party 10 and a Mario amiibo from the Super Mario series. The Toad amiibo will be compatible with Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and will produce a 8-bit Toad on every map that will give you a bonus if you find it.

There was a lot announced on Splatoon in this direct. They confirmed local and online play but they announced the online hub for the games. It's a city street with a variety of clothes shops and a giant tower where you play online at. The clothes affect your character's look and it's stats too so there are many ways to play. They hub also includes a weapon shop and Nintendo announced that character load outs include a main, a secondary and a special weapon. They announced Splatoon will release in May.

Next there was an announcement for Hyrule Warriors, Tingle and Young Link will be downloadable characters in the Majora's Mask DLC along with a new story mode and 3 custom outfits for characters.

Next they had another trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Showed many of the new landscapes.

Mario vs Donkey Tipping Stars also got announced and it has cross buy which means no matter what system you buy it on you'll get a download code for the other system.

Bandai Namco announces Treasure Project. Free to play. Not much else is known about it besides the fact that it is a Wii U exclusive.

Here is a list of various other games that got announced:

  • Elliot Quest
  • Blek
  • Citizens of Earth
  • Gunman Clive 2
  • Moon Chronicles (Ep. 2,3 & 4)
  • Sega 3D Classics
  • Etrian Mystery Dungeon
  • Story of Seasons
  • Fossil Fighters Frontiers
Then Reggie continued to announced the Western release of the NEW 3DS XL that comes in both black and red. Later on in the Direct they announce a Monster Hunter 4 Edition and a Majora's Mask Edition. EDIT: The Majora's Mask one is sold out already. It apparently sold out in the first 2 hours of announcing.

They then proceeded to announce that Project S.T.E.A.M. and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy + (along with Super Smash Bros.) will have amiibo compatibility.

The port of Xenoblade Chronicles known as Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is an NEW 3DS exclusive.

IronFall Invasion is a new indie FPS game being made for 3DS exclusively. Works with the NEW 3DS C-Stick.

So this is a lot of information but remember this is just the first Nintendo Direct this year. There is still plenty to come. I will post the actual video below. Thanks for reading and keep playing!

Information Overload! Amiibos, Pokemon Rumors & Fan Games!

Hey Gamers!

Before we start off the new year I got some information for you guys! This is one of my first actual posts in a while and again I apologize for that.

So first off I'm going to talk about Amiibos. We all know that some are super rare and/or impossible to find. I have been searching for Marth, Villager and Wii Fit trainer and pretty much any Wave 2 Amiibos and it's been very unsuccessful. Amiibos are hard to acquire and everyone wants them. Thankfully there is a website that can help you find them. Nowinstock.net is a website where you can see places that have Amiibos in real time so give it a look. Click here to get to the website! Also just my personal opinion, I think the next Amiibo's to become rare in Wave 1 are Samus and Fox so I would advise picking them up, especially Fox.

Okay next we got Pokemon news, cause why not? So according to Japanese developer at Game Freak Tetsuya Watanaba who is known for working on the Pokemon series has hinted that their next project is soon to come to light and he was quoted as saying that they are trying "a lot of different things" in this new project. Here is the direct quote:

We’re doing a lot of different things with respect to our next project, so right now we’re focusing on getting ready to announce it. We sincerely hope from the bottom of our hearts that it’ll be worth checking out once we get to that point. — Tetsuya Watanaba

What is your thought on this? A lot of people are speculating Pokemon Z but I highly doubt that. The last time we were planned on getting a 3rd sequel to a Pokemon game we got Pokemon Black & White 2 which was an interesting idea indeed but I think they are going more out of the box with this. Some people might say a Colosseum and Gale of Darkness sequel on Wii U which I would enjoy too, but I still think it's more out of the box. If you recall to one of my older posts it was a theory on the supposed Pokemon Plus and Minus games that would link up to the Wii U (or supposed Nintendo Fusion hardware/system) I will attach the link so you can go back and read that article. Click here for the article on Pokemon Plus and Minus.

Okay finally my last topic tonight is I want to shine some light on two really super awesome Pokemon fan games. The first one I want to show you is Pokemon Insurgence. This game takes place in the Torren region which is a region plagued by cults at war, vying for supremacy and control over the region. This game features everything the modern Pokemon games have including new Mega Evolutions, beta Pokemon and even Pokemon armor. This is from the same creator of Pokemon Zeta/Omicron. It's worth a look. I will be putting an icon on the blog with easy access to the site. To view more information check out this Imgur thread: Click here!

The last Pokemon fan game I want to bring to light is called Pokemon Uranium. This is a Pokemon game where it brings to light what would happen if toxic waste corrupted wild Pokemon. Nature preservation has always been a theme in Pokemon but never to this extent. Toxic Pokemon are classified as being wild and instable and their attacks are super effective to every type but in return they are also weak to all attacks. It's an interesting strategy to have. To check out more on this game: Click Here!

Well gamer guys and gals, I know it's been a while but this is a lot of information to digest so I recommend that you go through this a couple more times to make sure you get all the information. Make sure to click on the links to get to the pages. Thank you all your time and remember to comment below and to keep on playing!
