Hey Gamers!
Nintendo finished their Nintendo Direct and there were a lot of announcements. If you haven't seen the video I will post a link below but we will also be doing a synopsis of the event. They announced a lot for their first Nintendo Direct and if you didn't see a game you wanted or was hoping for, just remember it's January, there will be more Nintendo Directs.
First off they announced an untitled Fire Emblem game labeled as "The Latest in the Fire Emblem series."
Next they announced Puzzle & Dragons Z and Puzzles v& Dragons Super Mario Edition. I did a review on the announcement of Puzzle & Dragons Z a while ago but I am finally glad to see the game being released in the West. They are releasing the two together in one package which will be released sometime in May.
Next Nintendo announced a new free to play game called Pokemon Shuffle. It plays like Trozei except you have a limited number of moves you use to defeat the enemies. You can unlock gems and stuff through street pass or by purchasing them. This game is available in February.
They announced that Wii games will now become downloadable software. Starting today you can download Super Mario Galaxy 2 and for half price for the next week. Punch-Out will be available January 22 & Metroid Prime Trilogy on January 29 and for the week after these releases the games will be half price as well.
After that they announced amiibo compatibility with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse which releases February 20th. Kirby, King DeDeDe and Meta Knight will be compatible with it.
They also announced a new wave of amiibos which include Robin, Lucina, Ness, Wario, Charizard, and Pac-Man. Make sure to get these while they are still available. They will show up in store in Spring. They also announced a Super Mario lineup of amiibos which include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser and Toad which are coming out alongside Mario Party 10 and there will be a bundle package that comes with Mario Party 10 and a Mario amiibo from the Super Mario series. The Toad amiibo will be compatible with Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and will produce a 8-bit Toad on every map that will give you a bonus if you find it.
There was a lot announced on Splatoon in this direct. They confirmed local and online play but they announced the online hub for the games. It's a city street with a variety of clothes shops and a giant tower where you play online at. The clothes affect your character's look and it's stats too so there are many ways to play. They hub also includes a weapon shop and Nintendo announced that character load outs include a main, a secondary and a special weapon. They announced Splatoon will release in May.
Next there was an announcement for Hyrule Warriors, Tingle and Young Link will be downloadable characters in the Majora's Mask DLC along with a new story mode and 3 custom outfits for characters.
Next they had another trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Showed many of the new landscapes.
Mario vs Donkey Tipping Stars also got announced and it has cross buy which means no matter what system you buy it on you'll get a download code for the other system.
Bandai Namco announces Treasure Project. Free to play. Not much else is known about it besides the fact that it is a Wii U exclusive.
Here is a list of various other games that got announced:
- Elliot Quest
- Blek
- Citizens of Earth
- Gunman Clive 2
- Moon Chronicles (Ep. 2,3 & 4)
- Sega 3D Classics
- Etrian Mystery Dungeon

Then Reggie continued to announced the Western release of the NEW 3DS XL that comes in both black and red. Later on in the Direct they announce a Monster Hunter 4 Edition and a Majora's Mask Edition. EDIT: The Majora's Mask one is sold out already. It apparently sold out in the first 2 hours of announcing.
They then proceeded to announce that Project S.T.E.A.M. and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy + (along with Super Smash Bros.) will have amiibo compatibility.
The port of Xenoblade Chronicles known as Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is an NEW 3DS exclusive.
