Dawn of The Planet of the Apes: Quick Review (No Spoilers)

So, apes with machine guns riding horses? Class A movie right there. But seriously how do you take a movie that has a main focus like that and have it become something strong, rewarding and anything above the idea of it being labeled as "B movie" status?
You give heartfelt slow moments of real emotion sprinkled throughout the movie and balance them with the time you give for raging intense violence.

That is the heart and soul of "Dawn" as like "Rise" before it. But what makes Dawn better is the idea that the apes are given more screen time than the humans. I mean it's well balanced, I'm just glad we get to see these truly beautiful works of cinematic CGI live, breath and have being.

It has to be said that Caesar himself has to be one of the coolest and most unique movie characters of all time. You'll love Caesar, and feel the weight of the ape tribe he has to carry. Learning that there's evil in everyone.

                                                                            ***

I saw Rise, and seeing the trailer for Dawn I said to myself "That looks ok I guess, Looks like the movie could end in 2 minutes".
I then proceeded to make the joke about how Commissioner Gordon is in the movie (Gary Oldman) and since Batman has retired the city of Gotham has come over-run with apes..

You know....Batman does have a villain who is an intelligent ape (Gorilla Grodd)
Anyway I'm getting carried away, the point is I judged it, saw the good scores, checked it out, loved it!

The movie has great pace and truly balances the delicate moments with the  harsh violence

In a lot of ways like an animal's nature..guess that's the point
